Sharing toys, music and good times

In reference to recent subjects entertained in these columns, man has been making music in some form for a long time. The Irish Trad Band, A Pinch of Snuff, visited the city of Denver for St. Patrick's Day festivities and embodied the spirit of human music sharing to quite an admirable degree. This left an impression of reflection and thoughts of what it means to not just play music, but to share an entire experience of music and life. From afar and half paying attention the music sounded as clear and true as a CD, but the epic experience came thereafter.

One day someone somewhere strummed a string, even whistled a tune that was irresistible to the ear of another musician, and he or she sat down to add a harmony or a melody. And thereafter, or perhaps even before in the form of a grunt or dance, people have gathered to supplement and compliment one another's skills. Nallen's, boasting Denver's original pub, is a place in Denver that still encourages and entertains this age old practice and A Pinch of Snuff made the experience amazing for the audience and the band alike.

Later at Nallen's
Other musicians wandered in one by one, the band impressed us all, but began to disappear into the background as the night wore on. Musicians wandered in, as if in a dream, and the members of the band disappeared for a pint, but the music still played. Their jolly influence was still palpable in the room, as the new musicians took over and we all shared good times.
