The Colorado Music Board project is lucky to have a team of smart, witty, and ambitious reporters to report on all that is musical and cutting edge in the Colorado Music Scene.  Our writers are music fans, musicians, aficionados and so much more.  And they all have one goal in mind:  to bring you the best of your local music scene.

Colorado Contributors are:

Michael Garfield - Visionary Music

Michael Garfield is intent on demonstrating that everything is equally art, science, and spiritual practice - to revive cultural and individual investment in the renaissance thinking that finds equal value in thinking and feeling, description and experience.  Working as a scientific illustrator and essayist by day, and a live electronic musician and performance painter by night, Michael divides his attentions between exploring and celebrating the vast complex vibratory spectacle that is our musical universe.  His work has been featured at integralnaked.orgrealitysandwich.comabout.com, and paullonely.com, and in Cause & Effect Magazine, iMAGE Magazine, The Benefactor Magazine, and H+ Magazine.  Links to his painting gallery, live and studio recordings, and earlier writings can be found at myspace.com/michaelgarfield.

Kimber Jones - Resident Rock Librarian

After spending years wandering the hush-hush library stacks, Kimber is now ready to let her hair down and let her voice be heard as the Colorado Music Board’s resident librarian.   With a home library of well over a thousand books pertaining to every genre, period and event in musical history, she is able to give us a whole new perspective on the world of music – one from the written word of those who were there.  Kimber takes a no-holds-barred in pondering and reviewing biographies, histographies, fiction and more.  Whether it was released a week ago or a century ago, it’s important substance to this devious librarian.

Cara Kruse - Live! With Denveritis

To say that I reluctantly fell into the persona I represent is accurate, and for a cynic such as myself, is really not as bleak and uninspired as it sounds.  And then again my ravaged and pathetic CD and cassette collection and lack of technology beyond what I can get away with these days no doubt cannot define me, but then again perhaps it does.  The material objects that emit music are not my concern today or ever, though  I appreciate that which I do have and surprise myself at my savvy when I do get my hands on them, my concern is primarily with the experience, exceedingly broad yet markedly narrow.

My observations mostly have preyed upon this home of mine, the greater Denver metropolitan area, shall I say, though these state lines have hardly contained me.  As in my travels, I am always related to Colorado, this discussion/rambling also be.  I will also discuss live music as a separate living entity outside ourselves at times because we often perceive the experience as elevated, or I suppose I should not speak on behalf of you, but this is my experience and part of my focus (tell me I am wrong whenever the desire arises please).  Live, as in live music, is a term that clearly refers to life and can be incorporated into a multitude of conversations that will happen right here, spanning the spectrum from human will to smell and wherever else you all take me from here. So, you’re invited, if you’re ready jump in, and though I can be fast and reckless at times, I survive on fortune where I can find it and the words and skills I hope everyone is ready to call me out on.

Kurt F. Stone - Sunshine Out My Ass

Raised on a respectful diet of onions, vinegar, and the souls of the young, Kurt Stone has a few choice words for you, your band, and the quality of women that are attracted to them.  Ready to hate anything, Kurt wanders the streets of Denver with his fists balled in his pockets and a tounge sharpened by granite looking for the next thing worthy of his cynical attentions.  He is more than happy to tell you everything you're doing wrong and offer an out of the box solution to fix it (out of the box?  Lucky if there is even a box to begin with!).
